CHARLBURY MARKET STREET SP3519 5/65 (East side) 27/8/56 Crinan House and attached forecourt railings GV II
House. C17 with C18 and C19 alterations. Rough ashlar with coursed squared rubble heightening to right; timber lintels; stone slate roof. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. Half-glazed door to left of centre in right part has open pediment on Doric columns. Large-paned sash windows with horns throughout, those on the first floor of the left part under moulded timber lintels. Large flush-fronted gable to left; change of walling material above first-floor windows to right indicates later heightening, possibly replacing similar gables. 2 hipped dormers have casements with glazing bars. Iron ties and insurance plaque on first floor. 2 ridge chimneys at ends of right part. Interior of ground floor has stop-chamfered ceiling beams; also doors and window shutters with raised and fielded panels. Mid C19 two-storey surgery extension to right Iron railings with fleur de lys heads on rendered dwarf walls have 2 gates flanking entrance to the house.
