Shown on Ordnance Survey map as The Old Shop.
House. Dated 1666, with C18 addition and late C20 alterations. Coursed limestone
rubble with thatched roof; C20 machine tile roof to addition. T-plan; 2-unit
range with central wing to front and later addition to right. One storey and
attic and 2 storeys. Integral dressed stone end stacks. Dormer to right C17
two-light chamfered mullioned wooden casement (relocated in late C20). Small
ground floor window to right with wooden lintel. C20 boarded doors off-centre to
left and right, with wooden lintels. Central gabled wing with C20 two-light
wooden attic casement. Moulded datestone above, inscribed "WC/1666". Addition
(see straight joint) to right with 3-light wooden casement. Rear: 3 square eaves
dormers with 2- and 3-light wooden casements. Two ground-floor 3-light wooden
casements flanking central 2-light casement, with wooden lintels. C20 boarded
door to left of central window. Addition to left with small dormer and ground
floor 3-light casement. Interior: right-hand ground-floor room with chamfered
spine beams and joists. Large open fireplaces with wooden lintels in left and
right-hand rooms. C17 winder stair to rear of right-hand stack. Right-hand
first-floor rear room has C17 stone corner fireplace with moulded cornice.
