CHILSON PUDLICOTE LANE SP3119 (North-east side) 12/4 Barn and granary approx. 15m 24/09/85 SE of Chilson Farmhouse (Formerly listed as Barn 20m S of Chilson Farmhouse)

Barn and granary. C18. Coursed limestone rubble, squared and coursed to south-west. Stone slate roof. Three-bay barn with granary and cartshed adjoining to north-west. Barn with central opposed cart entrances. North-east front: central porch with blocked entrance (see straight joints); inserted smaller double boarded doors with wooden lintel and segmental relieving arch, and rebuilt gable. Boarded door with wooden lintel in right-hand return and blocked doorway in left-hand return (see wooden lintel and C20 concrete blockwork). Triangular vents, some blocked. Partly-blocked loft opening with wooden lintel in left-hand gable end. Central pair of boarded sliding doors to south-west. Granary and cartshed to right. Three-light wooden windows to loft and ground-floor 2-bay open front with chamfered wooden lintel and later extension to front with 3 stone walls and lean-to corrugated-iron roof. Right-hand gable end with 13 external stone steps up to boarded loft door with wooden lintel. Interior of barn: collar and tie-beam roof trusses. Boarded loft over porch, with boarded door. The barn and granary form part of a complete farmstead group, including the farmhouse with attached barn and stables (q.v.).
