RAMSDEN HIGH STREET SP31SE (South-west side) 9/107 Lower Farmhouse 12/09/55 (Formerly listed as Lower Farmhouse and Barn)
GV II
Farmhouse. Early to mid C18. Coursed limestone rubble with stone slate roof. Three-unit T-plan, sited at right angles to road. Two storeys and attic. South-east front: integral brick end stacks (top of right-hand one rebuilt in C20) and 2 brick ridge stacks. Three gabled dormers with small-pane 2-light wooden casements. 5 irregularly-spaced bays; boxed glazing bar sashes with stone cills and wooden lintels; ground-floor tripartite sash to right. C19 two-panelled half-glazed door in second bay from right with side lights and late C19 or C20 gabled wooden porch with side benches. Small staircase window to left of door. Later (see straight joint) one-storey service range adjoining to right with 2 small 2-light wooden casements. Gabled wing to rear with early C20 porch in angle. Interior not inspected. The house appears to have been exlarged at some time in the C18 (see straight joint to left of front door). The farmhouse forms part of a complete farmstead group, including adjoining barn (q.v.), stables (q.v.) and garden wall (q.v.).
