HEYTHROP
HEYTHROP PARK
Bridge approximately 700 metres north east of Heythrop House

(Formerly listed as Bridge approx. 700m NE of National Westminster Bank Staff College)

II
Bridge. Early C18, possibly by Thomas Archer for Charles Talbot first Duke of Shrewsbury. Limestone ashlar. Baroque style. Bridge has three widely-spaced arches linked by a convex string, the outer arches semi-circular, the central opening wider with a depressed arch; all have double-stepped keyblocks and intermittent voussoirs projecting from an arched band. The solid straight parapet rises over the central arch and curves outwards at the ends. The bridge now forms a dam retaining the waters of the lake created c.1750.

(Heythrop Park is included at Grade II* in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens; VCH: Oxfordshire: Vol II, p131)
