Details
CHIPPING NORTON MARKET PLACE SP 3027-3127 3/59 Ivy House (J Butler, Furnishers) (formerly 11.4.73 listed under Middle Row) GV II Shop. Early C18 altered. Coursed rubble stone to side walls, render elsewhere with a hipped stone tiled roof and side and ridge stone stacks. Three storeys, 2-window range facing the Market Place. Moulded eaves cornice and below 2 floors of recessed large pane sash windows. Remodelled shop front to ground floor. Inside the first floor room overlooking the Market Place has a stuccoed ceiling of 2 compartments. This was originally 2 rooms and the decorative schemes are slightly different. That to the W has a central rose with radiating leaves encircled by busy foliage. That to the E repeats the central rose motif but is flanked by further roses with catherine wheel tendrils swirling from them.
