Details
GREAT TEW SP32NE 5/11 Tracey Farmhouse: barn range and waterwheel approx. 50m. to NE GV II
Barn and waterwheel. Probably late C18, extended early C19. Coursed limestone rubble with some ashlar quoins; concrete plain-tile roof. 9- or 10-bay range includes a 4-bay barn with opposed entrances, plus a lower through cartway and an additional bay to north, and 3 or 4 added bays to south. On the east face, under a wooden canopy, is a cast-iron waterwheel, partly sunk in a pit and connected to a vertical shaft. The machinery was installed c.1810 to the designs of J.C. Loudon. (V.C.H.: Oxfordshire, Vol.XI, p.227).
