GV II
Farmhouse, possibly originally manor house. Early/mid C17, re-fronted late
C18/early C19. Coursed and random limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings;
Stonesfield-slate, clay and concrete plain-tile roof with stone and brick
stacks. T-plan, 2 storeys plus attic. 3-window front has doorway to left of
centre in a C20 stone porch and has large casements, mostly of 3 lights, with
ashlar flat arches. Right gable has a 3-light ovolo-moulded wood-mullioned
window with leaded glazing, and rear wing has a similar window of 4 lights,
facing left, and a further 3-light window in the lower bakehouse range beyond,
possibly re-used from the front. Gable parapet on end wall of rear wing.
Bakehouse has a massive rounded oven projection with a stone-slated roof.
Interior: fireplaces with moulded mantel shelves; re-used C17 oak panelling;
very large open fireplace with bread oven in bakehouse.
