Bridge. C14. Coursed and dressed limestone with later repairs. Six pointed arches to entries are divided by prominent cutwaters which provide refuges for travellers above. Groins of central arches have lateral ribs surviving. New Bridge is the most complete medieval bridge in 0xfordshire, and was the scene of skirmishes in the Civil War when Parliamentary Forces under Waller attempted to cross the bridge in order to surround Oxford and capture the king.
