DENCHWORTH SU39SE 1/5 Denchworth Manor, Old Wool 24/11/66 Store approx. 100m. W (Formerly listed as Old Wool Store in grounds of Manor House)

GV II

House. Noted as having date 1708 (Pevsner). Roughcast, limestone rubble plinth; stone slate roof; stone roughcast stacks and inserted C20 brick stack to left. Original plan form unclear. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Label mould over late C19 four-centred doorway to late C19 ribbed door. C20 cross windows; three-light on ground floor, 2-light above. Coved cornice. Hipped roof; corbelled out rear lateral stack. Gabled dormers to sides. Interior: Chamfered beams, most of first floor removed. C18 studded door to rear right. 4-bay queen-post roof with curved side struts, butt purlins and wind braces. (Buildings of England: Berkshire, p.127).
