GV II

Garden walls. Possibly C17 and C18. Limestone rubble and brick with some flared headers. Walls form the north side of the forecourt to Newington House (q.v.) and return to link with the entrance gates (q.v.). Walls are rubble externally from the gates to the projecting brick gatepier of the stable court which has moulded panelled sides and a stone cap and ball finial. It is mostly a late C19/early C20 re-building but retains some C17 work. The brick lining of this section of wall is in chequer brick to east and in irregular bond with some diamond patterning to north. West of the brick gatepier, the wall return towards the house in Flemish-bond brickwork, stepping down in height.
