EAST HAGBOURNE BLEWBURY ROAD SU5388 (North side) 15/19 No. 1 (Grange Cottage) 09/04/52 GV II House. Mid C17, early C18 refront, mid C18 extensions to left and right. Red brick; red brick with grey brick headers in Flemish bond to left and right; old plain-tile roof; red brick end stack to right; grey brick with red brick dressings, end stack to left. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. Central C18 two-panel door with painted wood eared architrave surround and flat hood on moulded and carved brackets. Wood cross-windows with leaded lights to all openings, those to ground floor with cambered flat arches of rubbed bricks. Moulded brick band between ground and first floor. 2 cross-gables with banded fishscale tile-hanging and 2-light leaded casements. Left return: 2 blind windows to ground floor with cambered flat arches of rubbed brick. Shaped brick band between ground and first floor. 2 blind windows to first floor with cambered flat arches of rubbed bricks and moulded cornices. Rear: some timber-framing visible. Interior: straight flight staircase. Ovolo moulded spine beam to ground floor right. C18 fielded panelling to ground floor left and right, installed c.1940 from a house in London, with niches with half-domes and shaped shelves.
