GV II
House. Probably C17, remodelled early C18. Brick with some timber framing; old plain-tile roofs with brick stacks. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys plus attics. 4-window front, with storey band and moulded brick dentil cornice, has 12-pane sashes under gauged-brick keystone flat arches, converted from segmental arches; ground-floor windows have panelled shutters, and doorway, to left of centre, has a 4-panel door, architrave and flat canopy on shaped brackets. Window to left of door is a later restoration. High parapet has 2 blocked openings. Right end wall retains a segmental arch over a blind window. Rear part of side wall is a different build, and has very fine brickwork with plinth, storey band, moulded cornice, rubbed and gauged flat keystone arches, and dressings in bright red brick with purple walling. End wall has pairs of sashes at ground and first floors, and the one-bay return to rear has a further sash and a narrow blind panel. Gable end of timber-framed core is visible to rear. Roof is complex and has dormers behind parapets. C18 brick wing of 3 bays projects to rear, with leaded casements of 2 and 3 lights under segmental arches and a timber-framed rear wall. Interior not inspected.
