Nos 7 to 13 (odd) (Catherine Wheel Hotel) SU 7582 1/45 25.1.51.

II GV

2. C18 facade to C16 and C17 buildings. Formerly an important coaching inn. Stucco with rusticated ground floor at western end. Band below eaves. West half slate, east half, old tiled roof. 2 storeys at western end, 3 at eastern. 2 groups of 6 windows each all sashes with glazing bars, including 2, two storey canted bay windows at west end. Centre window has wooden architrave and label. 3 doors, 2 outer ones with engaged Doric columns and centre C19 with moulded head and carved tympanum. West door has iron balcony above. Carriageway entrance to rear courtyard. Timbering visible in wall.

Nos 5 to 39 (odd), the Drinking Fountain, the Parish Church of St Mary and the raised pavement at the east end of Hart Street, form a group associated with Nos 2 to 8 (even) Nos 14 to 36 (even) including Adam House and Nos 40, 44 (including gates and piers) 48, No 50, The Old School House and the Rectory Garden Wall opposite.
