GV II

Mansion, now school. 1815. Limestone ashlar; Welsh-slate roofs. Double-depth plan with subsidiary wings. Gothick style. 2 storeys. Battlemented main block, with octagonal corner turrets, has symmetrical 5-window front with central bay breaking forward slightly. Entrance has crenellated porch with relief quatrefoils and 4-centred archways to 3 sides. 12-pane sashes to ground and first floors have stone labels. 5-window return front to right, has turretted buttresses flanking centre bay. Rear has a symmetrical 6-window elevation, divided 2:2:2 by triangular buttresses, and to right of it a large 2-storey canted bay window. Service wings to left of main front have plain sashes and shallow-pitched hipped roofs. Interior: Central stair hall has cantilevered stone stair with wrought-iron balustrade and wreathed mahogany handrail, a modillion cornice with guttae, and an oval domelight with key decoration around the base and a central stained glass roundel.
