BANBURY OXFORD ROAD SP4539NW (West side) 11/147 No.50 (Easington House) 07/10/69 (Formerly listed as No.50) GV II

Farmhouse, now house. C17 with later alterations. Regular coursed ironstone rubble, steeply pitched slate roof, rendered stone ridge and end stacks, stone copings with moulded kneelers. 2 storeys plus attic and basement; 3-window range. 3-unit plan. Entrance off-centre to right has panelled door now partly glazed, panelled reveals and overlight. Flat hood and wooden surrounds. Renewed C20 cross windows to ground floor have original wooden lintels. 3 renewed first floor windows. 2 gabled roof dormers. 2-light cellar window to left. Gabled extension to left, now garage, has 2-light casement with lead cames and wood lintel in left end. 2-storey brick extension butted on to rear of main building. No.50 is reputed to form part of Easington Farmhouse which was extensively repaired or enlarged in 1793. (V.C.H.: Oxfordshire, Vol.X, p.43).
