Details

SHENINGTON WITH ALKERTON RATTLECOMBE ROAD SP 3642-3742 (North side) Shenington 7/67 Top Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse, now house. Possibly originally 2 dwellings. 3 builds. Late C17 with later alterations following fire c.1721 and C19 additions. Squared coursed ironstone rubble. Steeply pitched stone slate roof with Welsh slate and C20-tile to rear. Stone coped gables with moulded kneelers. Renewed blue brick shafts on chamfered stone bases to ridge and end stacks. Long rectangular plan of 6-units plus further C19 part of 2-units on left. Main part. Entrance to left has a 4-panelled door with wood lintel and is flanked by 3-light wood casements with wood lintels. 2- and 3-light casements to right have wood lintels. First floor has six 2-light wood casements with wood lintels, 2 gabled roof dormer with 2-light wood casements, stone slate roofs and sides. C19 part. Coursed squared ironstone rubble. Slate roof. Single storey plus attic. Wood casements and 2 half-dormers. interior has stop-chamfered beams and inglenook fireplace with chamfered bressumer. Butt purlin roof.
