22/53 Nos. 3 and 4 Riding Cottages GV ll
Pair of houses (No. 4 is former post office), mid-C19. Squared stone with tooled ashlar dressings; slate roof; one stone and one rebuilt stack in pale orange brick on stone base. Main part 2 storeys, 4 bays. End bays have 6-panel doors with plain overlights, with 8-pane sash to right of that in left bay; intermediate bays have paired 8-pane sashes. 16-pane sashes in gabled half dormers with trefoil-pierced bargeboards to 1st floor. Roof verges overhang eaves; central ridge stack. To left l-storey bay (former post office) with 6-panel door on far left and renewed 20-pane sash; stepped and corniced end stack. All openings in chamfered surrounds.
