HALTWHISTLE MARKET PLACE NY 7064 (South side) 20/16 Ironmonger's shop (trading as F. Jackson and Sons) GV II
Ironmonger's shop. Late C18-early C19. Squared rubble (painted white on front) and Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 windows. Side facing Market Place has alternating quoins. Central C20 opening with 2 partly-glazed doors. C19 shop front at left has 2 large panes; flanking fluted pilasters with pulvinated caps and fascia with cornice. 16-pane sashes at right and above with flush sills and lintels. Fragment of plinth on rear of right return. Rear facing churchyard has 2-storey projecting staircase bay. Included for group value.
