Former Royal Hotel now shop. c.1900. Domestic Revival style. Brick with
ashlar dressings and decorative bands, large coped gable with
shaped head, strapwork and finial; single sidewall stack, 4
storeys, 3 bays. Facade has full-width 2 storey recess
containing, to left, a canted bay window with Ipswich glazing
bars and 4 casements, and to right, round-headed doorway with
half glazed door. Above, bracketed balcony with wrought iron
balustrade incorporating the words 'Royal Hotel', and large semi-
circular window with central glazed door. Above again, 3 sashes
with glazing bar heads and prominent keystones, and linked semi-
circular pediments. Above again, 3 similar sashes with linked
pediments, the central one raised, and above them, 2 intermediate
pilasters. Included for group value only.
