25/28 Allenheads Farmhouse and adjacent farmbuildings II
House and planned farmbuildings: byres, cart sheds and stables with haylofts over. Early C19. Squared rubble with dressings, hipped slate roofs. Ranges enclose 3 sides of a square yard open to the east. Farmhouse occupies eastern part of north range; 2 storeys, 3 bays. 1st bay with boarded door and renewed window to left, 2nd and 3rd bays 16-pane sash windows in moulded boxes on both floors; 2 stone ridge stacks. To left 1 bay of farm building with 3 doorways and pitching door above. Right return has boarded door with overlight, 16- pane sash in moulded box to left with similar window above; small outshut to rear of house. To rear of yard (west) range of 2 storeys, 4 bays, to left (south) range of 2 storeys, 5 bays: elliptical-arched cart entrances, boarded doors, pitching doors to haylofts. Left return of south range has 16-pane sash in moulded box to 1st floor. Rear elevations of farm buildings with fewer openings; slit vents to haylofts. Yard paved with stone setts has infilled central pond, with border of large paving slabs, where the mine ponies which were stabled here were washed. Rubble wall, with arched coping and central stone piers holding C20 metal gate, towards road.
