6/127 Yont the Cleugh Farmhouse and adjacent ruin on west
II
House dated 1771,with initials W.T., on stone over door, built onto bastle house of late C16 or early C17; outbuilding to east (now part of house) early C19. House squared stone with tooled dressings, left return brick. Hardrow tile roof; bastle large rubble; outbuilding coursed rubble with tooled and margined dressings, slate roof. House 2 storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical. 2 steps up to central 4-panel door in raised stone surround with datestone over; to right of datestone re-set roll-moulded jamb probably from bastle door. Late C19 sash windows in older stone surrounds. Brick end stacks. Left return of house built over end wall of bastle with massive quoins; side wall of bastle remains to 2m. high, no features. Former outbuilding to right 1 wide bay, 1 ground floor window in stone surround. Left return of house shows original bastle wall at base with blocked central byre doorway. Right return stable door with alternating jambs, C20 window above. Rear elevation; outshut to house, various openings.
