10/223 Farmbuildings with gingang to west of Longdyke Farmhouse II
Barn with attached gingang and shelter shed, both with granaries over. Second quarter of C19, incorporating C18 masonry on north elevation. Roughly-coursed rubble with tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings; Welsh slate roofs with cream ridge tiles. Barn on west and shelter-shed on north form L-plan group at corner of former foldyard; gingang on west of barn.
Facing former yard, the 2-storey 5-bay shelter shed shows boarded door and part-slatted window at left end, 2 pairs of segmental arches and part-slatted granary windows. 2-storey 4-bay barn shows 2 stable doors and various windows. Hip-ended roofs.
Rear elevation: projecting from barn, a square gingang with pair of open segmental arches on each face; granary above has boarded pitching doors and window on left return, and slatted window on right return; tall hipped roof. To each side of gingang are stable doors with part-slatted windows above. Shelter shed shows blocked segmental archway, boarded granary door and slatted or part-slatted windows. All openings in chamfered surrounds.
Interior: Gingang has massive cross beam, with cuts for machinery, and drive- shaft opening in barn wall. King-post roof trusses to barn and granaries.
The gingang with granary above is a very rare form.
Attached single-storey ranges and covered yards are not of special interest.
