MIDDLETON CHENEY RECTORY LANE SP4942 (North side) 11/209 Old Rectory 04/02/69 (Formerly listed as Rectory)

House, former Rectory. C17, altered C18 and C19. Coursed limestone rubble, artificial stone slate roof, stone and brick stacks. 2 storeys and attic, 5 bays. Double-gabled garden front has C19 trefoil head Gothic window in centre of ground floor. C19 bay window with castellated parapet to left. 2 windows with stone lintels and C19 plate glass sashes to right. Similar windows on first floor. Attic windows with stone lintels and 6-pane sashes. Coped gable end with kneelers, Windows on left side are C19, two with stone hoods. Windows on right side also C19. Irregular rear elevation with 3 gables. C20 doorway. C17 three-light stone mullioned windows to first floor and attic. Interior not inspected. A wing added by Sir G.G. Scott, C19, in Decorated Gothic style was demolished c.1975.
