GREAT DODDINGTON CHURCH LANE SP8864 (West side) 17/110 28/05/54 No.3 (The Old Vicarage) (Formerly listed as The Vicarage (The Manor House)) GV I
Manor house. Cl6. Regular coursed limestone with lias dressings. Half H-plan. 2 storeys with attic. Entrance front of 3-window range with flanking gabled cross wings breaking forward. 4-light stone-mullioned windows to ground floor and 3-light stone-mullioned windows to first floor and attic reducing in width at attic level. C19 part-glazed door to right of centre under 4-centre moulded stone head. 2-light cellar window to left of door. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and ashlar stacks at ridge. Illegible tablet in right gable. Elevation to right, abutting road, is of 4-window range of 2- and 3-light stone-mullioned windows. Rear is similar with projecting cross wing to left. Interior: hall has Cl6 staircase with heavy turned balusters and panelling with incised decoration. Room to right of entrance has C16/C17 fireplace with 4-centred moulded stone arch. Said to have datestone 1510. Used for a time as the vicarage.
