FRAMSDEN - TM25NW 5/10003 Foxes Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Circa early C17, extended and altered in C19. Timberframed, with rendered gabled ends, front faced in stretcher bond red brick and rear outshuts in Flemish bond brick. Pantile roof with gabled ends. Brick axial stack. PLAN: Originally probably 3-room plan with central hall a and parlour on right (SE) heated from back-to-back fireplaces in axial stack probably originally with lobby entrance in front of stack and with unheated room at left (NW) end. Partitions have been inserted into the hall to create a cross- passage entrance and across the left room and the lobby entrance has been blocked. Outshut at the back, probably in the C19. EXTERIOR: 2 storey Asymmetrical 5 window south west front. C20 3 and 4-light casements, those on ground floor larger with cambered arches. C20 plank door to left of centre also with cambered brick arch. Small 2-light casements in NW end gable. Outshuts at rear with lean-to roofs. 2 storeyed at centre with catslide roof INTERIOR: Right hand room has large brick fireplace with chamfered timber lintel with hollow step stops, chamfered axial beam with cyma and bar stops and 2-panel door. Centre room has chamfered axial beam and large brick fireplace with chamfered timber lintel with hollow step stops. Left hand room has chamfered axial beam. Timber-framing, tiebeams and common rafters exposed in chambers.
