former barn/stables
G.V. II
Public House. Early C19. Whitewashed brick; former barn/stables partly of
cobbles. Graduated greenslate roof, brick chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 2 bays;
former barn/stables to right under common roof. Single-storey single-bay lean-to at
left. Plank door in plain painted stone surround. C20 casement windows with
glazing bars. Large painted inn sign above entrance shows cattle drover and was
painted whilst the pub belonged to the Carlisle and District State Management
Scheme (before 1973). Former barn/stables has blocked entrance and windows.
