House. Dated 1689, with C19 fenestration and unsympathetic alterations of late 1970s, including pebbledashing and refenestration of sides and rear. Brick, pebbledashed. Welsh slate roof. Plan: 3 rooms with lobby entry to left. 2 storeys with attic, 3 bays. C19-C20 sandstone plinth. Entrance has C20 doorcase with 4-panelled door in reveal, flanked by 12-pane sliding sashes with frosted glass, one to left and 2 to right. Wide stucco first- floor band carried on partly-restored cyma reversa moulded brick corbels. First floor: moulded terracotta or carved stone segmental pediment above entrance carried on moulded brick corbels, containing recessed square panel with 2 hearts and inscription in relief:

Moulded brick corbelled eaves cornice. Deep C20 boxed eaves. Rebuilt brick-coped shaped gables. End stacks to right; axial stack to left. C20 rebuilt wing walls to either side are not of special interest. Left gable end has inserted C20 2-light casements to ground and first floors, single similar attic window. Right gable end has pair of C20 inserted narrow attic casements. Rear, facing River Trent, has inserted C20 glazed door, C20 2- light and 3-light casements. First-floor band with C20 corbels, original corbelled eaves cornice. 3 large plain skylights. Interior. Largely remodelled, contains chamfered spine beams. Perhaps built for the Everatt family, recorded at Kelfield in the late C17 - early C18. An important survival, reflecting the local influence of the C17 Dutch drainers, and the only example of a house of this period with curvilinear gables in South Humberside, but marred by the 1970s alterations.
