6/62 Rippon Hall.
G.V. II
Manor House, mainly Victorian but with late C16 core. Of red brick with slate
roof. Asymmetrical 'U'-shaped plan of 2 storeys, some with attics. Entrance
facade to east, with central courtyard behind open to the west. South wing,
double pile over its eastern half. It contains behind a C19 remodelling,
one wing of the C16 manor, including the roof structure, at the eastern end.
Mainly Neo-Tudor, though east gable of C16 brickwork. C19 stone mullion and
transom windows, plinth, moulded string course, eaves string course, polygonal
buttresses with brick finials, parapet gables with brick or stone kneelers
and brick finials. Storey height canted bay window with moulded brick parapet.
Off centre, C19 2 storey entrance porch on east elevation with polygonal
buttresses and finials. To the north of the porch, stone mullion and transom
windows and 2 parapet gables. Chimney stacks C19 Neo-Tudor clustered shafts.
Interior C19, though C16 roof with jointed crucks, principal rafters, purlins
