TOFT MONKS YARMOUTH ROAD TM 49 NW (east side) 3/103 Toft Monks Hall 5-9-60 - II

House. Early C17 and later. Timber frame and brick, rendered and colour- washed on tarred brick plinth. Steeply pitched roof with hipped ends; smut pantiles. Two storeys, attics and basement. North facade four windows wide: sashes with glazing bars and architraves, 2-light casements in basement. Doorway off-centre to east, opposite stack: 6-panel door, fluted pilasters and entablature with corner paterae. Two attic dormers with 2-light casements. South elevation has two 2-light casements and entrance doorway at basement level; one sash with glazing bars and two cross casements at ground floor level. Stone steps up to central doorway with 6-panel door and moulded architrave and canopy. At first floor level, two cross casements and C20 replacement sash with top-hung light and glazing bars. Central attic dormer with 2-light casement. Interior: framing incorporates jowled posts, their expanded tops, unusually, in the plane of the wall. Two fireplaces with quadrant-moulded elliptical brick arches.
