2/7 No. 1 Hill Grove 2-10-51 II

House, now residential home for the elderly, c1780 for John Ewing. Colour- washed red brick, black glazed pantiles, hipped roof, modillions to eaves. 3 bays, 3 storeys with integral outshut of 2 storeys to rear. Flush sashes with glazing bars, openings decreasing in height upwards, those to 2nd floor 2 panes high; gauged flat arches. Principal facade to south-west: central C19 porch rendered, flat roof with entablature having egg and dart mouldings, returns each with narrow opening having semi-circular head containing large sculptured shell, double leaved door; central C18 doorway having 4-panelled part-glazed door with rectangular light above having glazing bars in fan design, some decorative. Right return with openings as to principal facade but second floor with top hinged casement with glazing bars. Interior: panelled doors, narrow open-well open string staircase with ramped mahogany hand rail, stick balusters and turned newel.
