SWAFIELD MUNDESLEY ROAD TG 23 SE 3/92 Swafield Hall 16.4.55 - II

House. Late C16 origin, altered C17 and substantially altered C19. Brick and flint, colourwashed to south facade. Plain tiled to north, south roof of black glazed pantiles. Flint main range running east-west with brick southern cross wing. 2 storeys and dormer attic. C20 door left of centre flanked by 2 shuttered French windows either side. 6 C20 casements to first floor. Gabled roof with 3 C20 casements in gabled dormers. Panelled C17 ridge stack over door. North elevation of principal range with large central early C19 staircase block : of brick with stepped gable and sash window under segmental head. To left late C17 brick entrance porch with segmental doorway and clasping angle pilasters. Pilasters terminate at plain tiled drip course. Above is early C19 stepped gable. Single storey outshut to left of porch. Above outshut one sash window with glazing bars. To right of staircase block one blocked first floor window. Gabled south cross wing with stepped gable head and angle pilasters rising to plain tiled drip course at eaves line. Mixed fenestration of sashes and casements of C19 and C20. Cross wing with central ridge stack.
