History
North Walsham is a medieval market town that grew wealthy from the trade of wool and cloth. The town was largely rebuilt following a fire in 1600 but remained a significant market centre into the Industrial Revolution.
The building is C18 or early C19 in date. It is depicted on the 1842 Tithe map as a small rectangular building. It was in use as a house and shops and occupied by ‘divers persons’. It is shown in a similar form on the 1885 first edition Ordnance Survey map.

The building is red brick with a pantile roof. It is two storeys high and has a sash window on the first floor, with centre glazing bars only, and with a stuccoed, keyed, flat arch. It has a pantile roof with plain eaves. There is a modern shop front at ground floor level, with black glazed tiles. There is a projecting timber dentilled cornice above the modern shopfront.
All the listed buildings on the northern side of the Market Place form a group.
