History
North Walsham is a medieval market town that grew wealthy from the trade of wool and cloth. The town was largely rebuilt following a fire in 1600 but remained a significant market centre into the Industrial Revolution.
Number 8 Market Street is an early C19 building which was historically used as a shop. It first appears on the Tithe Map of 1842, at which date it belonged to William Love. The holding comprised a house and Baking Office. It is also depicted on the 1885 First edition Ordnance Survey map, which shows a rear range forming part of the western side of Mitre Tavern Yard to the rear.

The principal elevation faces south. It is three storeys high, with a shop front facing on to Market Street. It has flanking pilasters and a second floor moulded string course. There are two sash windows on the second floor with glazing bars. On the first floor is a single three-light sash window, now with centre glazing bars only. The building has a slightly projecting wooden shop front with an entrance to the left.
The building forms a group with Number 6-18 (even) Market Street.
