History
North Walsham is a medieval market town that grew wealthy from the trade of wool and cloth. The town was largely rebuilt following a fire in 1600 but remained a significant market centre into the Industrial Revolution.
Number 32 Market Place probably dates to the early C19. The 1842 tithe map and 1885 first edition Ordnance Survey show the building, which had been attached to a small row of cottages and shops on the north side (no longer extant). A replacement shop front was installed in 2015.

Number 32 has two distinct elements facing the market. The left-hand portion is taller, with an enriched open pediment and flank rustications. It has two sash windows with flush frames, glazing bars, and a lugged stucco surround on the second floor. At first floor three sashes form part of the same large window composition beneath a moulded cornice. The righthand portion is lower, with two flush frame sash windows with glazing bars and lugged stucco surrounds on the first floor, and two truncated sashes with moulded cornices at first floor. and second floors. The ground floor is subdivided into two shops, with early C21 shop fronts.
All the listed buildings on the north side of the Market Place form a group.
