7/160 James House (formerly 12/1/66 listed as James House Farmhouse) GV II
House. Late C16/early C17, remodelled and extended early C18, restored late C20. Brick to earlier timber frame; plain tile roof; brick integral end stacks and ridge stacks. T-shaped plan, C17 range aligned north-east/south-west and C18 crosswing aligned north-west/ south east. Gabled wing to left of 2 storeys and attic with moulded first floor band and C20 dentilled attic band, 2-storey range to right with exposed timber wall-plate; 2:1 bays, casements with segmental heads; blocked doorway to left of right hand range. North-east gable has decorative timber framing, diagonal struts and quatrefoils within square panels. Interior: Timber framed partition walls, those to C18 wing of slight framing, that to C17 range of square panels; C18 doors; inner roof truss of C17 range has central vertical strut above the upper of two collars, one pair of purlins and a ridge piece, remnants of a king-post truss above C18 wing.
