Maltings, now watehouse, Early - mid C18, with later C19 facade. Timber-framed with rendered front and red brick side walls. Curved gable over front with canted wide central window on first floor flanked by painted panels. Wide double early C20 shopfront on ground floor with central paired doors. Very deep plain tiled roofs. Interiors 7 bay timber-frame with possibly rebuilt kiln area to west. All timber of heavy scantling pegged together. Square posts with heavy curved braces. Until the early or mid C19 the Maltings for Beards Brewery but replaced when the Castle Precincts maltings were built. The earliest surviving maltings in Lewes.
