Lock. 1770-1777, C20 restoration and alterations. 2 pairs of timber gates, cast-iron machinery, ashlar and gritstone retaining walls to lock and overflow channel. The lock raises the canal approx 2m. A view of the lock was painted by JMW Turner during his Yorkshire tour in 1824. (Brears P: Museum of Leeds Trail: 1982-: 36).
