Methodist church. c1905-26. By WH Beevers. Gothic Revival
style. Dressed stone, red brick laid in 3:1 English bond,
steep-pitched grey slate roof over nave and aisles. Twin
gabled transepts. Pointed and depressed arch windows with
Perpendicular-type tracery.
Entrance at E end (ritual W end); 3-light window with
curvilinear tracery, heavy corner buttresses rising to
truncated pinnacles flanking gable end, canted porch. NE
corner tower, tall and thin, the top stage with diagonal
corner buttresses rising above parapet to form flat topped
pinnacles. Tall 2-light lancet belfry, stone shaft between,
rising up through panelled parapet which is shaped.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The chapel and school premises designed together but the
chapel was opened in 1926.
