Formerly known as: Lifton House LIFTON PLACE University Campus. House, now university premises. 1847-49. Probably by first occupier, Benjamin Burrell. Red brick, Flemish bond, stone details, slate hipped roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Plinth and quoins. Steps with bull-nose treads to central panelled double door in stone surround with pilasters, consoles and pediment. Plate-glass sashes, those to ground floor tall, with stone aprons below; stone sills and continuous sill band to 1st floor; flat rubbed brick arches. Eaves cornice, eaves stack right. INTERIOR: not inspected. (Beresford M: Walks Round Red Brick: Leeds University Press: 1980-: 56).
