Large house, now flats. Late C18, altered C20. Coursed gritstone, thin courses, low-pitched slate roof with stone coping to gable ends with kneelers, Shaped eaves brackets. 3 storeys, 3 windows, centre single-light, outside 2 lights, stone flat-faced mullions, plain surrounds. C20 sash-style casements. Central doorway with modern glazed door, End stacks, truncated. Rear: narrow round-headed stair window above entrance, single- and 2-light windows to ground and 1st floors, 3-light windows to top storey. INTERIOR: not inspected. The style and proportions of the building suggest that it may have had an industrial purpose originally and it stands on the site of Springfield woollen mill; recent thorough restoration has possibly obscured original features.
