SE2435SE LOWER TOWN STREET, Bramley 714-1/68/553 (West side) 26/09/63 Stocks Hill Pump and raised pavement
GV II
Retaining wall to raised pavement with arched niches containing trough and remains of pump. Late C18. Coursed gritstone walling, ashlar arches, stone trough and cast-iron pump. Walling approx 3m high, 30m long. Rusticated ashlar pilasters at each end, segmental-arched niches also in rusticated ashlar, stone coping with plain railings above. One arch contains the drinking trough and the other has the remains of the cast-iron pump with lion mask, handle and tray. Together with the old well this was the original water supply of Bramley.
