Shop. 1868. By George Corson. For Harvey and Reynolds, chemists. Gothic Revival style. Ashlar, slate roof. 3 storeys. 3 stepped gables with wrought-iron finials, weather vane over central gable. 1st floor: round-arched windows with polished shafts to columns with carved capitals, continuous drip mould. 2nd floor: 3 pointed-arch windows 2-light with carved capital to central column and carved tympanum with circular opening. Carved string at sill level. Modern shop front to ground floor. INTERIOR: not inspected. One of the most important Leeds architects, Corson designed the Grand Theatre, New Briggate and the Municipal Buildings. Another small building by him is No.17A East Parade (qv), where the ground floor survives; here the original Gothic-arched ground floor is known from photographs. (Douglas, J & Powell, K: Leeds, Three Architectural Walks; Victorian Society Walks No.4: 1988-: 7).
