GV II
House, now offices, with area railings. 1785-94. Probably by William Hargrave, mid C20 alterations. Red brick, stone details, slate mansard roof, wrought-iron railings. 3 storeys and added mansard attic, 3 bays. Entrance left: panelled door, fanlight, surround of three-quarter Tuscan columns supporting entablature, dentilled cornice and pediment. Sashes with glazing bars, slightly arched lintels, sills, sill band to 1st floor. End stacks. INTERIOR: not inspected. Area railings include bootscraper close to doorway and bars have bud finials. William Hargrave built at least 14 houses in Park Place on the Wilson estate land leased for houses and workshops for the gentleman merchant community leaving the congested medieval town centre.
