Building society premises and offices. Dated 1892. By Smith
and Tweedale. For The York City and County Bank. Sculptor Mr
Appleyard. Ashlar, roof not visible. Classical style on corner
site.
3 storeys. Park Row elevation 3 bays, Bond Court 2 and a half
bays. Splayed corner. Ground floor rusticated, paired
round-arch windows with balustered panels below sills,
pedimented doorway on corner with polished granite pilasters.
1st- and 2nd-floor bays divided by large Corinthian half
columns, fluted near base, supporting entablature with heavy
modillion cornice and decorated frieze, balustered parapet.
1st-floor windows are Venetian, 2nd-floor tripartite round
arch, both floors with balusters below sills and impost mould.
Right return: 2 Venetian windows, narrow entrance bay far
right has circular overlight.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
