SE23NE POTTERNEWTON MOUNT, Chapel Allerton 714-1/6/597 (South side) 05/08/76 The Round House
II
Tower windmill, now house. Late C18, converted C20. Coursed gritstone rubble, wrought-iron railing to parapet. The tall 4-storey tower remains, with possibly the original entrance on the E side, with a large lintel; tiers of windows on 3 sides, some openings have tie-stone jambs suggesting a mid C18 date. The cap which held the sails and gearing is missing, and the position of the walkway above entrance level is shown by a slight step-in in the coursing. INTERIOR: not inspected.
