Rifle club house. 1891, by the Wire Wove Co. Timber frame clad in pre-fabricated panels, with corrugated iron hipped roof. Single-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: single storey; 7-window range. Hut with barge boards to gabled N end and canted verandah on 3 sides, 13 bays to the W, 5 bays to S and 11 bays to the E, extending 3 bays beyond the S gable of the hut, and with a NE gable. Verandah has turned posts with elliptical, arched braces between and cast-iron bracketed feet on brick plinths. Central bay to each side leads to double half-glazed doors, with plate-glass windows either side, W side has a half-glazed door 2 bays from the end; in the S gable is a canted mid C20 bay window.
INTERIOR: has single ceiled room with kitchens at the N end.
HISTORY: formerly used to display trophies during the Queen's Competition. Of interest as a rare complete example of the type of temporary or prefabricated hut used by the army in the colonies during the late C19.
