Bakery, now furniture showrooms, office and surgery. c1905, with late C20 alterations. Brown and red brick; stucco; grey slate roofs. EXTERIOR: 2 and 3 storeys having long central block between gabled east and taller west wings. The east wing has altered shop window between brick piers and fascia with cornice on consoles; the central block has shopfront altered late C20, a 20-pane casement and 2 doors of 6 fielded panels with 8-pane overlights under timber hoods on consoles; the west wing has a circular 9-pane window in surround with keystones to top, bottom and each side, flanking an altered shopfront. The second storey has small framing to the west wing with a pair of mullioned and transomed casements proud of the wall-face; herringbone strutting in pediment gable with modillion cornice; the central block is stuccoed, with five circular 9-pane windows in cartouches; modillion cornice to eaves and central gable. The west wing has fascia inscribed "NORTHGATE BAKERY" in raised Edwardian lettering, banded brick quoins, three 20-pane hoppers to the second and third storey and pediment gable with modillion cornice; lateral chimney. The rear upper storey of the central block has almost continuous glazing; the rear gables of the wings are detailed similarly to the front. INTERIOR: where access was possible, surfaces were covered.
