2 attached villas. 1851-1860. Stone-dressed Flemish bond brown
brick with grey slate roofs, described separately.
EXTERIOR: No.3 of two 3-bay storeys, nearly symmetrical, with
added garage wing, left, has plinth, 6-panel door in
rusticated case, with overlight; canted 2-storey bay window
with lights of 4;6;4 panes to ground floor; a 6-panel door in
stilted round archway with leaded radial-bar fanlight. Frieze
and cornice at first floor; volute, left, below sillband;
casements of 3;6;3 panes in bay window; casement of two 3-pane
lights above door; frieze and cornice to roof, main ridge
parallel with front, with hips to bay window; projecting
lateral plinthed chimney left; chimney right. The left end has
rusticated corner, sillband and a round-arched casement behind
chimney. The ground floor of the rear has a 6-pane
cross-casement in eared architrave, a replaced door under a
wedge lintel and a 6-pane cross-casement under wedge lintel.
The first floor has sillband and two 6-pane cross-casements.
INTERIOR: has a vigorously-expressed newel stair, 6-pane
doors, panelled embrasures and ceiling cornices.
EXTERIOR: No.5 has two 3-bay storeys, recessed to left.
Plinth; square bay window of four 4-pane transomed lights;
three stone steps to distyle Ionic portico; replaced panelled
door and 1-pane fanlight in round-arched Classical case of
stone; balustrade between recessed panels over porch; an
8-pane cross-casement in eared architrave with cornice on
consoles. First floor stringcourse; sillband; an 8-pane pair
of French casements; triple round-arched 3-pane casements over
porch; a 6-pane pair of French casements, right; all openings
have cases or architraves of stone. 3 stone-dressed plinthed
chimneys. The right end has a canted 1-storey bay window with
French windows, stone pilasters and entablature with
balustrade to balcony above; 4 cross-casements to first floor;
conservatory. The rear has a canted stone bay window with a
4-pane transomed light in each oblique face and an 8-pane
cross-casement to front; an 8-pane pair of transomed French
casements with 4-pane sidelights in eared architrave with
entablature; a cross-casement in similar stone case.
INTERIOR: has a vigorously expressed mid C19 newel stair,
10-panel doors, panelled embrasures and ceiling cornices.
