II

Warehouse. c. 1860-65. An early Victoria Dock warehouse. Yellow stock brick; slate roof. 4 storeys; 11-window range. Symmetrical 2:1:2:1:2:1:2 rhythm of window bays and loopholes. 3 segment-headed loopholes with timber doors and iron hoist to centre bay. Ground, first and second floor openings contained in shallow round-arched recesses. Segmental-headed windows subdivided by iron glazing bars. Fourth floor openings formed as blind recesses. Blank gabled end elevations with stepped brick decoration to parapet.
Internal construction identical to each storey: timber floors on 3 cast-iron columns across the depth, with flanged caps to spreader plates bearing full-span coupled beams. Timber straight-flight open stairs in north-west corner. Queen post roof trusses diagonally braced.
